Stopped here on our way to DTE (Pine Knob for you hard cores out there) twice in the last week. Its pretty easy to get to and right off the highway, so when your chug-a-lugging it to a concert but want to eat real quick before you get there, then this is a good place. Like the other poster mentioned, people do look at you as you come in, but then once seated I look at others when they come in too...so whatever. I don't think they thought anything about my looks (pretty conservative looking on the surface), I figured they thought I was famous...so I am sticking with that...I'm a multi-billionaire and just hang out at the Baldwin Rd Big Boy...how is the filet mignon there? In any event, we got the soup and salad bar with our sandwich, it was ok, nothin to write to your mama about, but decent. They had slaw, bean salad, cottage cheese, fresh lettuce and all the inter mixins (ie ham, bacon bits, cucumber, cheese, chickpeas etc...)for a good salad. There were 4 types of soup, I had the split pea, seafood/shrimp gumbo, and a little broccoli. All in all the soups were satisfactory. The burger was fresh and tasty the fries were great and the server kept the drinks topped off. They took care of us nicely at this Big Boy, and were very eager to please. I would give it more stars, but after all it is a Big Boy. I will be back

Mediocre and poorly prepared. Wife and I popped in for a quick dinner after realizing there wasn't much at home to cook for dinner. Nothing we wanted atleast. So we both ordered a couple sandwiches with soup and salad bar. I picked the old standby Slim Jim. I normally get the Big Boy classic burger because I think it's the safest bet here, but I have had too many burgers lately. My wife order a BLT. Salad bar wasn't up to par. Lettuce looked picked over. Soup looked too thick like it had reduced too far from being hot too long. Fruit and some vegetables looked old and limp. Etc... The potato salad was straight up sour and turned. Wife's blt was fine but my Slim Jim was crazy dry and stale. I bit in and inhaled saw dust from the stale bun. It must have gone down my wind pipe a bit because I had an annoying cough afterwards that wouldn't go away no matter how much water I drank. Ham was way over cooked and the cheese had turned into a crisp wafer too. On the upside, it's Strawberry pie season and that was good, only $1.50 a slice. Waitress did a fine job as well.... I have been to and have reviewed great Big Boy restaurants. This is not one of them.

Horrible experience. This was our first and last time. Pam the server ignored us for 15 min and then when she came to our table she just stood over us and didn't say a word. Very rude.Breakfast buffet was cold. Bad experience all around

Ok let me preface this with the statement that a friend and I used to eat here once or twice every week. We loved it here and whenever the two of us got togather this was the place we went. Sadly however this is no more. They used to have some excellent waitresses. you would tell them your order and you got it. They didnt write it down yet always got it right never any mistakes. This was not just because we came in a lot we always switched up what we ordered and as we watchched they did this with everyone. Sadly now they write it down, make you repeat your order half the time, and still get it wrong. I ask for blue cheese dressing and I get french. I tried 3 times in case it was just an off day but the last three times were terrible. My Veal was overcooked and tough, the spaghetti was cold, and it took me forever to get a waitress back over for a refill on my pop. Until they get the place back on track I would recomend you avoid it like the plague.

This is an American tradition. I get the classic big boy and the soup and salad bar usually. One complaint is that the dishes aren't always clean when they are put out at the salad and soup bar. Usually pretty good customer service. Good price. Don't get the lemonade, wayyyyy too sour

I actually worked at this Big Boy when I was in High School and I have to say it isn't too bad. Overall it is a clean restaurant, which is important because some other places have flies and bugs swarming their salad bars. Not here though, the items in the salad bar are refreshed frequently and most of the stuff is fresh. The menu is the same as all the other chain Big Boys, and the service is good. It's located by Great Lakes Crossing, across the street, and you can usually get a table no matter what time it is. PS- please tip your server more than a dollar, just because the food is cheap doesn't mean you should be!

Good lord. The four of us had salad, soup and burger bar. I had a chocolate malt. The malt was tiny, disguised by a huge pile of whipped cream. There weren't enough toppings for salad, nor any lettuce or green choices. I liked my tomato soup, but someone else at the table thought their cabbage soup was bland beyond all belief. The icing on this very sad cake was the burger bar. Burnt, dehydrated, clearly (formerly) frozen "beef" patties with hard as rock buns. I've never tasted anything so...dead. Fries were soggy and almost empty for a long time. I had to ask them to refill pickles twice. Something resembling Chili was presented for topping, but it was neither home-made or coney-island type...some sort of strange glop. Our server was pleasant throughout, nor did we bring up any of these problems or give management any chance to correct them. Frankly, the problems were so enormous it tells me they have zero interest in their product anyway, so what's the point? Edit to add: The Wife and I are both nauseous this morning.
